Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - As part of the city's 2014 World Tourism Day celebrations, last weekend a donation collection center for Hurricane Odile's victims in Los Cabos was installed in the main parking area of Puerto Vallarta's Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport.
The donation drop-off point was made possible by the city of Puerto Vallarta in collaboration with the Pacific Airport Group, PV's Tourism Trust, Canaco, Canirac, Coparmex and the Puerto Vallarta Hotel Association, all of whom encourage every resident and visitor to get involved in helping Los Cabos tourism get back on its feet.
The donation center will be collecting non-perishable foods and toiletry items for the next two weeks. Contributions will be shipped to Los Cabos to help victims of Hurricane Odile.
"We do not know when tourist activity will be restored there because it depends on several factors, but we are doing our part to help the community because we know perfectly well the suffering caused by such a situation, and we hope that all the infrastructure, hotels, travel and activities and services in Los Cabos are at 100 percent very soon," said the Director of the Puerto Vallarta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Miguel Andrés Hernández.
Hurricane Odile will be remembered, at least for the time being, as the most powerful storm ever to strike Los Cabos, a popular Mexican resort destination at the tip of Baja California. Please consider making a donation of the resources needed for immediate disaster relief.
Those not in Puerto Vallarta who would like to help the victims of Odile can make a monetary donation through the International Community Foundation (ICF). Click HERE for more information.
