Pueblos Mágicos Designation Proposed for Sayulita

Sayulita, Mexico - Mayor José Gómez Pérez, Tourism Director Yoseff Amin Flores Verduzco, and Sayulita residents and business owners recently attended a meeting convened by Nayarit Tourism Secretary Raul Rodrigo Pérez Hernández, who announced that Sayulita could be one of the 12 new Pueblos Mágicos to be designated in Mexico.

Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns) is a program of the Ministry of Tourism, which invests federal resources to maintain the identity, characteristics and traditions of typical Mexican villages. During this administration, $4 billion pesos have been earmarked for investment in all of the existing Pueblos Mágicos in Mexico.

After receiving the news that the state government is seeking to have Sayulita appointed as a Pueblo Mágico by the federal government, the neighbors asked for the mayor's support in managing the roads in town, and support for the local projects that they have referred to him for the good of the community.

In response, the Mayor pointed out the pressing need for creating alternate roads to take traffic through the center of town, in order to initiate the process of pedestrianizing the first block of the village of Sayulita.

He reminded them that in addition to being a renowned surfing mecca, Sayulita stands out for its wide variety cultural and tourist activities. Beach walks, yoga, snorkeling, paddle boarding and whale watching; fabulous fiestas, nightclubs and restaurants; and the rich biodiversity of flora and fauna are just some of the elements that make Sayulita unique.
