Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Remember the Pulpito Drag Derby sponsored in part by Swedes Bar and Bistro last May during Gay Pride 2014?
"These two planters are our first steps in beautifying our street via the Pulpito Plaza Project," said Morgan Grandander, Swedes owner, referring to the current construction across from his restaurant on Olas Altas and next to Nu Tapas Bar at the corner of Pulpito and Amapas. "Our supporters and our race performers made all of this possible," added Grandander.
Additional plans to better contain the sidewalk trash is a work-in-progress and designs to spruce-up the plaza are being discussed.
Local businesses and the Amapas Neighborhood Association continue their work in improving their community. The basic design plan is to connect the corners of the intersection through the repeated use of large-scale planters and wrought iron street lights and street furniture, traditional 'Viejo Vallarta' finishing materials, painted pavement designs, and a mural.
The resulting improvements are simple and relatively easy to construct, install and maintain. The plan is to install new trash containers, new benches, tables and chairs and an original mural. The 'Tropicasa Corner' (NW) will have "bulb-out" planters, with colorful tropical foliage, park bench seating and wrought iron street lights.
The Pinnacle Developer added 5 new lighted poles on the steps last week. The finishing touches of the railing was also completed as delivery of the Pinnicular is expected within the next few weeks.
