January 16 Vallarta News Brief and Weekend Events

January 16, 2015

From live music and theater to cultural festivals, sporting events, charitable efforts and special interest group meetings, there's always something fun happening in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. Here's a look at some of this week's Vallarta news headlines, some community announcements, and a couple of this weekend's events that you won't want to miss.

RHOC's Vicki Gunvalson to Buy Andales?

According to a recent article on starcasm.net, The Real Housewives of Orange County's Vicki Gunvalson is looking to buy one of the most popular night spots on the South side of Puerto Vallarta. An excerpt reads, "The RHOC star has a real passion for whooping it up in Puerto Vallarta. Vicki and her family have been vacationing in Mexico for years and even own a condo there. During her visits south of the border, the 52-year-old always makes sure to stop by her favorite hot spot, Andales. Since Gunvalson mentions Andales so frequently on The Real Housewives of Orange County, she began making flippant remarks about buying the restaurant. But, it looks like all that joking may soon become a reality. On January 12, 2015, Vicki posted a picture saying, "Having a great meeting with Jorge, the owner of Andales. OMG I love this new drink aka 'Vicki's medicine' ... #staytuned, #andales, #excitingnewsaboittohappen ..." Does this mean Vicki is officially buying in? It wouldn't be such a far fetched idea to combine two things she loves: Puerto Vallarta and owning her own business."

Become a Part of Amapas History - Adopt a Planter Today!

Last year, the Amapas Junta Vecinal raised $50,000 pesos for construction materials to build new planters, replace old sidewalk paving, and make other improvements at the intersection of Calle Pulpito and Olas Altas on Vallarta's south side. With construction labor provided by Puerto Vallarta’s Obras Publicas, the planters are now complete, and it’s time to fill them with beautiful, colorful plants! The Junta needs to raise $60,000 pesos ($4,800 USD) for good planting soil, the plants themselves, installation and ongoing maintenance. The Junta will be placing attractive and unique custom-designed ceramic plaques on the planters to permanently recognize the generosity of the people and businesses who contribute to Pulpito Plaza landscaping efforts. You, your family, friends, partners and/or business can contribute by 'adopting' a planter. Your financial support can be immortalized in tile for as little as $2,500 pesos (approx. $200 USD) or up to $20,000 pesos (approx. $1500 USD) for adopting an entire planter. Click HERE to learn more about how you can achieve Amapas immortality by contributing to this worthy neighborhood beautification project.
