Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Members of the Vallarta-Nayarit joint promotion committee recently met with Southwest Airlines executives to finalize the details of the new direct daily flight from Orange County, California to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
Though the first flight is scheduled to arrive on June 7th, the official press conference and welcoming party, which will include cocktails and a 'big surprise from Southwest Airlines,' is not scheduled to take place until June 19, 2015.
In addition to the Orange County-Vallarta flights, new daily, nonstop service from Houston Hobby Airport is scheduled to begin on October 15th and, pending approvals from government agencies, Southwest will start offering daily direct flights from Denver's International Airport in November.
These new direct flights from the United States are a good indication of the major airlines' confidence in the Banderas Bay region's growing popularity, and of international travelers' increasing interest in these idyllic Mexican beach vacation destinations.
