Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The joint promotion of Vallarta-Nayarit is still going strong, thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust (Fidetur).
Earlier this month, members of the Fidetur and CVB promotions departments went to Texas, where they visited 260 travel agencies and held seminars in order to promote the flights that will be coming to the Banderas Bay region this summer.
Wholesaler Funjet Vacations will operate new flights during the 2015 summer season from Dallas and Houston, so updating the 260 travel agencies in those two cities was very important. So important that the Director of the Houston office of the Mexico Tourism Board, Patricia Hernández, participated in both seminars.
While in Texas, the team visited 60 travel agencies in Austin, Waco and the Dallas suburbs from May 5-6. They also held a seminar in Dallas attended by 70 travel agents with the participation of wholesalers Apple Vacations, American Airlines Vacations, Funjet Vacations, and MLT/Delta Vacations.
The same type of promotional work was done in Houston from May 6-7, with twice the number of agents and agencies in attendance. The presentation gave them the tools they need to close sales that will reflect in an uptick in visitors during the summer season.
Representatives from 18 of the region's hotels accompanied the team from the Riviera Nayarit CVB and Puerto Vallarta's Fidetur.
Sun Country and Funjet Vacations gave away 8 plane tickets, plus stays at hotels in both destinations, in order to thank and incentivize the attending travel agents.
