Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Although not yet completely furnished, we are pleased to announce that La Casita, (SETAC's Community House for HIV patients and their families) is partially operational and currently providing shelter to an entire family in need of emergency services.
When completed, La Casita will shelter and provide for families traveling at least 30 miles from their home town to receive critical HIV services in Puerto Vallarta. Without La Casita the patients and their families would likely be so challenged and discouraged that they would not receive these first critical primary services, nor the education, that gives them all the opportunity to retain a healthy life while living with HIV.
"We are grateful to our volunteers and for the donations that thus far have provided monies for rent and some furnishings that allowed us to open the doors. Although not fully furnished or appealing to the eye, we are operational and functional enough to provide immediate shelter to families in need," said the SETAC Center's director, Paco Arjona.
"Please consider donating your used furniture, housewares, clothing, and school supplies, or any items that we can resale in our Community Thrift Store, to support La Casita. Monetary donations to help pay the rent for La Casita are also welcome," Arjona added.
Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm at the SETAC Center, Constitución #427, in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
The purpose of the SETAC Community Center, located at Constitucion #427 and the corner of Manuel Dieguez on the South side of Puerto Vallarta, is to provide essential services to the community, including physical and mental health treatment, referrals, and education in an atmosphere of safety, free from discrimination.
