Mexican authorities in the state of Nayarit on Saturday destroyed 149 tons of marijuana collected at several illegal plots, the nation's National Security Commission said.
Five parcels of land with cannabis plants were spotted during a police raid in the town of Rosa Blanca. The marijuana crop was gathered and burned, according to the Security Commission.
It was the biggest haul of illegal cannabis crops in the past few years.
The government in Mexico has been fighting a war on drugs for about a decade. Its main goals are to dismantle drug cartels in the country and decrease drug-related violence that kills thousands every year.

Mexican Federal Police discovered an air-conditioned farm for cultivation of genetically modified marijuana in the state of Jalisco.
The National Security Commission (CNS), said that during a security patrol on Sunday, officers found the marijuana farm, spread over three areas - two on 2,200 sq.m and a third one on around 1,800 sq.m.
The female plants were genetically modified for cloning. Around 7,000 marijuana plants of different sizes were found.
The police cordoned off the area, and arrested 25 people, including 22 Colombians and three Mexicans.
One Colombian among them was responsible for cloning and nurturing the plants.
Those arrested, who were handed over to the public prosecutor's office in Mexico City, sought consular assistance to which foreigners are entitled to in such cases.
