Radio Universidad de Guadalajara Celebrates 14 Years

August 28, 2015

The talented and diverse group of collaborators at Radio UdeG PV, currently led by Lic. Marina de los Santos, results in a real, free thinking, universal, diverse radio station with a strong social commitment.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - This Summer, Radio Universidad de Guadalajara is celebrating 14 years of being on the air in Puerto Vallarta.

It was on June 6, 2001 when 104.3 FM radio was first transmitted with 10,000 watts of power from the Universidad of Guadalajara's Centro Universitario de la Costa (CUCosta) to the greater Banderas Bay region.

Thus began the life of Radio Universidad de Guadalajara in Puerto Vallarta and thus it began to fulfill its duty of broadcasting diverse musical, cultural, educational and informative programming to people in southern Jalisco and northern Nayarit.

And it was then that Radio Universidad de Guadalajara in Puerto Vallarta (Radio UdeG PV), began to build bridges. Radio UdeG PV belongs to the only radio network in the country with eight college radio stations: Guadalajara, Colotlán, Ameca, Ocotlan Ciudad Guzman, Lagos de Moreno, Autlan and PV.

Since its inception it has been characterized as a novel, fresh and intelligent broadcast medium. The geographical location and socio-economic activities of the region are a constant challenge for Radio UdeG PV, especially in generating content for a diverse and multi cultural society.

The signal is transmitted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; It has a mainly musical content, and therefore the information content and programming analysis is extremely valuable, assertive and valued by staff and listeners.

The importance of the radio station today is that it has strengthened the link between the university community and society in general through the dissemination of knowledge, science and culture; which primarily stem from the same University and its regional headquarters at CUCosta.

At the organizational level it has established a professional team and a flexible work system which results in the production of inclusive and pluralistic news programs with a strong social commitment.

Radio UdeG PV offers an eclectic proposal on the radio dial, where the creativity and sensitivity of those who program the broadcast every day comes together with the social service students who commit to the project each semester.

This talented and diverse group of collaborators, currently led by Lic. Marina de los Santos, results in a real, free thinking, universal, diverse radio station that entertains both the local and foreign communities.

Last June, Radio UdeG PV turned fourteen. Fourteen years of music, fourteen years of stories, fourteen years of emotions, fourteen years of shared words and thoughts, fourteen years of building bridges...

But the celebration of these fourteen years is just beginning. Radio UdeG PV has prepared a series of events for its listeners, the university community and the general public, so that everyone can celebrate this great achievement together.
