Mexico City - Mexico has met the goal of providing DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television) reception equipment for poor households by the 31 December 2015 deadline.
The Ministry of Social Development reached the figure of 9.7 million reception kits delivered, meeting the goal of at least 90 percent of poor households receiving DTT a couple of days before the deadline. The analogue switch-off has been completed in 26 Mexican states.
The conclusion of the DTT program is the most successful global digital transition, because Mexico is the only country that has supported impoverished people by delivering TVs, benefiting around one in three households.
In addition, Mexico had the fastest transition to digital TV in the world, completed over a period of eighteen months. Mexico is also the first country in Latin America to complete the digital transition.
