Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - Thanks to the ongoing community efforts made by the Municipal government, headed by Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña, a total of 4,853 students have participated in Puerto Vallarta's 2016-2017 Tourism and Environmental Awareness Training program.
Members of the Municipal Tourism Board taught the course in 34 of Puerto Vallarta's public and private schools, where they provided the students with information about the city's tourist attractions, as well as the importance of protecting the natural environment, which is a vital part of the tourism sector.
Last week, Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board staff visited the Celestin Freinet primary school in Colonia Independencia, where they gave an interactive presentation to the fourth graders, who showed great interest in each of the topics discussed around tourism.
They also raised the student's awareness about the care of marine species such as the turtles and whales that year after year come to the bay and add to the natural wealth of the destination. Some of the city's icons and several of the destination's tourist activities were also addressed.
Each day, the program taught groups of 30 to 200 fourth through sixth grade students the importance of tourism for the economic and social development of the port, as it is the city's main activity.
The activity leaders explained how the children can contribute to increasingly reach more national and international visitors through simple actions, such as keeping the city clean, having a kind attitude and providing information to visitors who require it.
