Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - More than a thousand rock fans gathered at Puerto de Luna's Parota Park on Saturday to enjoy the 2016 Festival Vibra Joven (Vibrant Youth Festival), with which the Municipal Institute for Youth Care (IMAJ), celebrated International Youth Day.
The festival, which began at 5 pm and ran until midnight, included performances by four local bands as well as the popular tapatías bands, Cirko Candela and Plastiko, all for an entrance fee of just 10 pesos per person.
The musical program, planned by the IMAJ, featured big names on the local music scene. The festival opened with a performance by XXL, followed by Three Circus, Ana Breaks and La Fuska. Their musical offerings created a lively atmosphere in the park, which was supervised by Municipal Civil Protection and Public Safety officers throughout the event.
The local bands set the stage for the headline acts: Cirko Candela, a group that chose Puerto Vallarta as the starting place for its tenth anniversary tour; and the popular Guadalajara-based band, Plastiko, who thrilled the audience with their innovative music that fuses seventies rhythms, funk, swing, ska, reggae and jazz mystique. Plastico warmed up the audience with the lyrics of Mondo Groovy, Karnaval, Aloha and Sólo quiero verte sonreír, before setting the crowd on fire with Prende la luz, Jazzskaman, Natural, and many other of their greatest hits.
When all was said and done, the goal Mayor Arturo Peña Davalos had set for the Municipal Institute for Youth Care - to provide a safe and entertaining event for Puerto Vallarta's youth - was achieved.
According to IMAJ director Diego Nava, the "youth" festival was attended by music fans of all ages, and everyone, young and old, enjoyed a fun-filled event full of good vibes.
It is worth mentioning that the logistics and costs of the 2016 Festival Vibra Joven were taken care of by Farmacias Medisim who, as a socially responsible company, took the helm without expecting or receiving anything in return.
