Heineken Invests Millions in Jalisco Distribution Center

The speed of the new production line at the Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Heineken plant in Guadalajara enables the packaging of 2000 units per minute. That's equivalent to 820 million cans of beer per year.

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico - Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Heineken inaugurated a new production line for cans as well as a distribution center at its plant in Guadalajara for an investment of 700 million Pesos, an amount that forms part of it total capital investment of $2 billion USD in Mexico.

The new production line has an increased speed which enables the packaging of 2,000 units per minute which is the equivalent to 820 million cans of beer per year. It can also produce 6 cans of different sizes and 43 packaging styles. The CEO of Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Heineken México, Dolf Van Den Brink, said, "The expansion of the plant will allow us to successfully respond to challenges in the market and service our consumers with opportunity."

The new 6,200 square meter production line is comprised of state of the art technology that allows the reduction in the use of energy by 30% and of water by 15%. The costs of these modules form part of an investment plan of $2 billion USD which is rolling out until 2019 within its Mexican manufacturing plants.

During the inauguration the CEO also announced that they will construct a 7th plant in Meoqui, Chihuahua, that will cost $7.3 billion Pesos and will commence operations at the end of 2017.

According to data supplied by Inegi, during the first half of 2016, the volume of beer sold in Mexico grew by 7% and revenues increased by 9%.
