The Huffington Post Launches HuffPost Mexico Site

September 2, 2016

The Spanish-language site, which launched through a collaboration with The Huffington Post and Mexico's Grupo Imagen Multimedia, is the 16th edition in The Huffington Post's growing international expansion.

Mexico City - The Huffington Post's Editor-in-Chief, Arianna Huffington, and CEO, Jared Grusd, unveiled a new Spanish-language website, HuffPost Mexico, at an event held yesterday in Mexico City.

In a blog published yesterday on HuffingtonPost.com, Arianna Huffington explained, "There's no better time than now to bring HuffPost to Mexico. At a time when Donald Trump is running on a platform that includes literally putting up a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, while calling Mexicans killers and rapists, it's more important than ever to open up the conversation between our two countries, build bridges, and counteract this false and dangerous narrative."

Huffington went on to say, "HuffPost Mexico will be a place where we'll be using all the tools at our disposal to tell the most important stories across Mexico - and just as important, using the power of the HuffPost platform to help the people of Mexico tell their stories themselves."

HuffPost Mexico will be led by editor-in-chief Laura Manzo. With more than 15 years of experience in Mexican media, including overseeing the Mexican launch of InStyle magazine and serving as editor of the entertainment and lifestyle magazine Quién, she brings a deep knowledge of Mexico's digital media landscape and the country's most important issues and influential personalities.

The Huffington Post is one of the most visited sites around the globe with more than half of its audience of nearly 200 million (comScore) coming from outside the U.S. and more than 35 million followers globally on Facebook. In just five years, the HuffPost newsroom has gone from being a U.S.-based team to having hundreds of editors located in nearly 20 countries outside the U.S publishing in 10 languages daily.
