Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Forget bungee jumping and camping on the side of a cliff, eating your dinner in the sky is the latest extreme travel experience. One of the world's most exhilarating dining experiences, Dinner in the Sky, comes to Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta.

A Belgian-based novelty restaurant service, Dinner in the Sky uses a crane to hoist its diners, table and wait staff 150 feet into the air. The elevated eatery, which opens in Puerto Vallarta on January 28, will be hanging around (literally) until February 28, 2017.

Named by Forbes magazine as one of the world's ten most unusual restaurants, the franchise has mobile services in 15 countries. At a recent press conference, entrepreneur Charlie Rubio explained that, after touring the skies of more than 50 countries such as Greece, France, Monaco, Israel, United Kingdom, they decided to bring the concept to Mexico - and they chose Puerto Vallarta as the first Mexican beach destination.

Giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy an 'uplifting' culinary experience, Dinner in the Sky takes dining to new heights. It will "elevate your excitement and adrenaline to the sky, where you will enjoy the incomparable view and an exquisite dinner prepared exclusively for you by renowned chefs," according to Rubio.

"Groups of 22 adventurous diners will be lifted 45 meters (nearly 150 ft) in the air by a crane, where they can take in breathtaking views of Banderas Bay, the Sierra Madre Mountains and the property's on-site golf course and beautifully polished grounds," Charlie Rubio added.

Dinner in the Sky guests can mingle with fellow diners during a complimentary cocktail hour that precedes the dinner. The three course gourmet dinner menu was designed by top chefs, including Mikel Alonso and Bruno Oteiza, disciples of Spanish superstar Juan Arzak and owners of Biko in Mexico City, which is regularly among the top 50 restaurants in the world on the San Pellegrino list.

The elevated restaurant will offer two dinners Wednesday-Friday at 6:00 pm and again at 8:00 pm and three dinners on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 5:00 pm, 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. A vegetarian menu is available upon request.

The dinner costs $242 USD, or $170 if you pre-order on the website (pending availability), but hotel guests enjoy an exceptional rate. People staying at Casa Velas or the nearby AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit can experience the thrilling dinner for just $50 USD, while those staying at Velas Vallarta get it for $80 USD.

A three night stay at a Velas property in Vallarta-Nayarit is required to receive the discounted Dinner in the Sky prices. Rates start at $232 per person per night based on double occupancy. For more information please call 1-888-407-4869 or visit dinnerintheskypv.com.
