Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Coffee Lovers and enthusiasts will gather together in Puerto Vallarta on December 16, 2017, when the city will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of people drinking coffee simultaneously in a single venue.
Plans for Puerto Vallarta's attempt to beat the current record, set in 2009 by 8,162 coffee drinkers in Cologne, Germany, were announced back in March as the Tourism Trust began looking to entice 10,000 residents and visitors to join in the fun - but the time and place had not yet been determined.
Last week, Event Director Carlos Arceo, who also created the famous PV International Half Marathon, announced that the Puerto Vallarta Coffee Fest would take place by the Seahorse sculpture on the Malecón at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017.
According to the Mexico Network of Journalists, currently more than 12 million people "like" the Guinness World Record's page on Facebook, 14 million have visited their website, and they have 50,000 followers on Instagram.
To help promote the effort, a Facebook page has been created, and a website has been developed where everyone who plans to participate must register to receive a free tee-shirt at the event sponsored by Puerto Vallarta's Municipal Government and Tourism Trust, Nescafé and many local businesses.
If you love coffee, make plans now to be in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on December 16, 2017 for this fun and free event that is sure to be 'one for the books.'
