The rotor blades production hall in Matamoros, Mexico is currently being equipped with modern production molds. At full capacity, the plant will create around 900 direct and indirect local jobs, estimates Nordex.

Matamoros, Mexico - The Nordex Group has announced plans to produce its own wind turbine rotor blades in Mexico.

The Germany-based company will set up a production facility in Matamoros, located in Mexico's state of Tamaulipas. Nordex plans to produce rotor blades totaling more than 1 GW of capacity annually for the local and global markets.

"With the Matamoros plant, we are responding to the sharp rise in global demand for our products," says José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group. "In addition to the existing rotor blade production facilities in different regions, we can now also manufacture our rotor blades in the vicinity of the North and Latin American growth markets. This increases significantly our competitiveness."

"Nordex production in Matamoros confirms that there's confidence in Tamaulipas and contributes to the growth of the energy sector," adds Matamoros Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca. "We reaffirm the commitment to guide and support companies that are coming to our state."
