Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, Mexico - The first Hotel Recyclathon in the Riviera Nayarit was held to raise awareness on the importance of changing our consumption habits and waste management; the event had the participation of seven members of the Bahía de Banderas Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB).
The Recyclathon took place on World Recycling Day - celebrated on May 17th using the slogan "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" - and is part of the AHMBB's Environmental Committee's activities, which seek to raise awareness among association members by encouraging the reduction, reuse, and recycling of natural and material resources.
The Cactus Inn, Royal Decameron Complex, Dreams Villa Magna, Hard Rock Vallarta, Iberostar Playa Mita, Las Palomas Nuevo Vallarta, and the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit participated in the event.
The Recyclathon collected 1.018 tons of PET, aluminum, caps, cardboard, paper, and assorted plastics. The Dreams Villa Magna, located in Flamingos-Nuevo Vallarta, won the event after picking up 612.02 kg of waste.
