Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico - On May 27th, a press conference was held in Tepic to announce that this Mexican city will be hosting the FIVB Volleyball World League's Pool G matches from June 12 to 15, 2015.
The competitions will be held at the Auditorio de la Gente, where the Mexican team will play with China, Greece and Slovakia.
Jesus Perales Navarro, President of the Mexican National Volleyball Federation, presided the press conference. Perales was joined by David Aguilar Estrada, General Director of the Sports Institute of the State of Nayarit; Victor Gutierrez, President of the Volleyball Association of Nayarit; and Ignacio Ramirez Robledo, assistant coach of the Mexico national team.
David Aguilar gave welcoming words to members of the local press and expressed the importance of the joint efforts of the national federation, the local government and sports authorities to host this important event. "It is an honor to bring the FIVB's premier annual men's tournament to our city," Aguilar said.
The Mexican team, which is ranked No. 22 in the world, made their first appearance last year. This is also Mexico's second time to host the World League, explained Jesus Perales Navarro, who also gave the general details of the event.
"The Auditorio de la Gente venue is set for the first round of Pool G in Group 3 where Mexico faces China, Greece and Slovakia," Perales said. "We invite all volleyball fans to support our team in this world class competition."
"The competition will be seen by more than 120 countries, making this a unique opportunity to promote our country, especially Tepic, Nayarit," Perales added.
Pool G action will kick off on Friday, June 12, with China facing Slovakia at 6 pm local time, followed by the match between Mexico and Greece at 8:30. On Saturday, June 13, China will face Greece at 5 pm, while Mexico will meet with Slovakia at 7:30. The weekend wraps up on Sunday, June 14, with encounters between Greece and Slovakia at 4 pm, Mexico and China at 6:30.
