Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - The Puerto Vallarta soccer team advanced to the knockout stage of the Jalisco Cup last weekend, after beating the municipality of Tuxcacuesco for a second time with a score of 6 to 0.
Despite Saturday's inclement weather, Puerto Vallarta Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña and Municipal Sports Council Director José Amador Hernández Madrigal attended the game, which was played at the Agustín Flores Contreras sports stadium at 4:00 pm.
The heat and humidity were not an impediment for the PV players, who gave it their all on the field, as proven by Edgar Donaldo Gutiérrez Ortiz, who scored the first goal in favor of the local squad in the 5th minute of the match.
César Vázquez Camarillo scored the second goal, a penalty kick at minute 20; with this the PV team reached a total of 18 goals in the Jalisco Cup games, making them the tournament's goal leader.
At minute 27, Oscar Eduardo Calzada Cuevas scored the third goal to the cheeers of the crowd. At minute 29, Edgar Donaldo Gutiérrez Ortiz, made his second goal of the game, which brought the score to 4-0.
In the second half of the match, Miguel Ángel Blanca Mellado scored at minute 70 and César Vázquez Camarillo at minute 76, bringing the score to 6-0.
Throughout Saturday's game, the Puerto Vallarta team, led by Víctor Manuel Langarica García, maintained control on the field, bringing home another victory and their global score to 10-3, which allows them to continue on the road to the grand finale that will be played on September 22 at Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara.
In this way, the Jalisco Cup matches are taking shape and each time they play, the teams that will make it to the final game are closer to being defined.
On Saturday, August 4, the Puerto Vallarta squad will travel to the municipality of Cihuatlán to face the opposing team on their home field, la cancha 'Llanitos,' in Cihuatlán, Jalisco. The game will be played at 12:00 noon.
