Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - The Puerto Vallarta soccer team continued its winning streak last week, defeating the San Sebastián del Oeste team 6-0 in the last game of the regional phase of the 2019 Jalisco Cup, and fulfilling their goal of moving on to the second phase of the state's most important amateur soccer tournament.
The Vallartense selection moves into the second phase of the tournament undefeated, winning all 6 of the 6 games played against the other teams in the Costa-Sierra region, and racking up a total of 36 goals without a single goal scored against them.
As such, the Puerto Vallarta team closed the first phase of the 2019 Jalisco Cup with 18 points, followed by Talpa de Allende with 10 points, which will be the region's second place team, while the Guachinango and San Sebastián del Oeste teams were eliminated.
In the second phase of the tournament, which will start on July 20, a total of 32 regional teams will face rivals from other parts of Jalisco, with each team making reciprocal visits to their opponents' home field, as they compete for their spot in the grand finale, a single game to be played by the top two teams at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, on September 22, 2019.
The winner of the final match will be crowned the 2019 Jalisco Cup champions, and awarded a trip to Spain, where they will attend a Real Madrid soccer match and play friendly soccer games against the affiliated squads of Getafe Club de Fútbol and Club Deportivo Leganés.
