The family event of the season is almost here! The Third Annual Puerto Vallarta Dog Show - Perrotón - is taking place the weekend of February 24th and 25th at the big Sports Complex across from the Sheraton Hotel, the event is in the northeast corner baseball field.

You, your kids and of course, your best friend can enjoy all the activities both days, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Kicking off the festivities, a professional team of a dozen dog trainers will be showing off during the Agility Show starting at 11 am. This will be followed by hourly competitions for you and your dog.

Contests include, Most Beautiful, Most Obedient, Funniest, Dog Most Like Owner, Mixed Breed and Best Costume. Winners will not only receive prizes but will have their photos published in various media outlets like BanderasNews.com and an upcoming issue of VIP magazine.

The registration fee for each category is $150 pesos. You can sign up with your vet or the Centro de Acopio (322) 296-3690 ahead of time or right at the show, but be sure to leave yourself at least 45 minutes before your category is called.

Catch folk dancing and other fair performances, plus there will also be booths with all sorts of pet items available and food and refreshments. Be sure to stop by the Centro de Acopio table and check out the video of the dogs and cats available for adoption.

Entrance fees are $25 pesos for adults, $10 pesos for kids and dogs are free. Be sure your dog is on a leash and aggressive dogs will be turned away.

All the proceeds from the Perrotón go to improving what the Centro de Acopio Animal is able to do on behalf of PV's adbandoned animals. Last year over 8,000 attended the tail wagging event and this year organizers are hoping for 10,000 spectators.

Video from last year's Perrotón can be viewed at HERE. For more information about the Acopio (322) 293-3690, ask for Liliana, she speaks English.
