| For more information, contact Maren Rudolpha at maren@travel writerstravelclassics.com, call (914) 591-4503 or visit the website HERE. | Registration is now open for the Travel Classics West, 2007 Writers Conference at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, AZ. Open to professional travel writers who have published a minimum of two major magazine articles within the last 18 months, the Scheduled to take place from November 1-4, 2007.
As you may know, this unique, exclusive conference sells out very fast, months in advance. Just 35 writers are accepted, to meet with 15-18 assigning editors from the top magazines in U.S.
Proof of the pudding: the conference director limits returning writers to just 30% of the attendees, because everyone wants to come back, year after year, because they get assignments - writers who have not yet attended have an advantage.
The conference is unique because the editors stay right at the hotel/resort and hob-nob with writers for 2.5 days, breakfast, lunch and dinner, sometimes on pre- and post-trips, too. You get a chance to get to know them - and, more importantly, they get to know and remember you.
Also, because the writers/editors are top notch, tourism bureaus and resorts roll out the red carpet. Just one assignment will offset your expenses, as all of these magazines pay $1 or more.
The list of the slate of editors at this year's May conference (which is now filled,) below, will give you an idea of the magazines that will be represented at the November conference:
Editor in Chief, ISLANDS Senior Editor, National Geographic Traveler Editor-in-Chief, National Geographic Adventure Senior Editor, Travel & Leisure Golf Editor in chief, SPA Executive Editor, Robb Report Travel Director, Outside Magazine Executive Editor, Mens Journal Editor in Chief, Via Senior Editor/ Travel, AARP The Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Eating Well Executive Editor, Saveur Senior Editor, Body + Soul Executive Editor, PORTICO Editor, Golf Connoisseur Executive Editor, Art & Antiques
