Calling All Travel Writers to Enter Planet Earth Awards

San Francisco, CA - A professional organization, the Bay Area Travel Writers (BATW) has opened a new annual travel book and travel article competition to writers from around the country and the world.
Travel journalists, writers and authors are welcome to enter Planet Earth Awards 2008 with works of this description: Travel writing that helps to sustain or enhance the unique and valuable character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and/or the well-being of its residents.

Who is Eligible to Enter?
The competition is open to all writers, journalists and authors.
Publication Dates:
Travel books, and magazine, newspaper and website articles and essays submitted must have been published between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006.
Deadline:
Submissions will be accepted through August 31, 2007. Entries must be postmarked no later than August 31, 2007.
Entry Fees:
A fee of $15 USD per individual entry for BATW members is required. The fee per individual entry for non-members is $30. Make your check for the total of your
entries payable to BATW. Your fees are tax-deductible. You may submit up to two entries in each category. The fee of $15/$30 applies to each individual entry.
(Advertorials, work produced under contract for commercial promotion and newsletter issues/articles are not eligible.)
Prizes:
Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in each category will be awarded on January 19, 2008. Winners will be notified, and will receive prizes and awards certificates suitable for framing. News releases will be sent to San Francisco Bay Area and national media and will be posted on the BATW website. (An individual winning the top award in a category three years in a row is retired from that category competition for two years.)
