Official Residence, Mexico City - Mexican President Felipe Calderón held a working meeting with Gerd Leipold and Patricia Arendar, executive directors of Greenpeace International and Greenpeace Mexico respectively.

During the meeting, they exchanged experiences and points of view on the international outlook for the environment and the actions Mexico has undertaken to contribute to its conservation.

Within this context, President Felipe Calderón highlighted the Mexican government's initiative in devising the National Climate Strategy as well as the implementation of the program to support the forestry sector, ProTree.

The meeting served as an occasion for discussing the use of renewable energies and the Law on the Biosafety of Genetically Modified Organisms and its Regulations.

President Felipe Calderón stressed the role Greenpeace has played in raising the awareness of businessmen, children, students and society in general regarding the care and preservation of the environment.
