Abortion and the Christian Morality in Our U.S. Presidential Elections Miguel Contreras - NarcoNews go to original
| | Americans feel betrayed by the conservative Republican Party and I am sure a high percentage of people who voted for George W. Bush now regret ever voting for him. | | | | This morning as I was doing my regular chores, I tuned into a Christian radio station where the New Mexico’s Hispanic Republican coordinator for the McCain-Palin's ticket was getting ready to have a political campaign event. One of the questions asked by a news reporter for this campaign organizer was to name the number one reason Hispanics should vote for John McCain for U.S. President. His answer: ABORTION.
The radio news person wanted to clarify more on the answer, and asked if the issue of abortion was more important than the economy. The republican Hispanic coordinator without hesitation answered YES and he gave as a reason that abortion was the same as murder and anti-Christian.
From a Christian point of view I agree 100% with the New Mexican’s Hispanic Republican coordinator. However, it is hardly an issue that Americans should pick as the only reason to vote for John McCain.
However, there had been lots of anti-Christian political rhetoric by the McCain-Palin campaign political advisors and by John McCain and Sarah Palin when their crowds yell “kill him”... ”terrorist”... or “Arab.” For my Christian friends, inciting violence, slandering our neighbor, is a sin and it is as bad as having an abortion. If you are guilty of one sin, in the eyes of our maker, you are guilty of all sins.
In 2000 and 2004, most evangelical protestant churches endorsed George W. Bush because he was conservative and anti-abortion.
The average American citizen historically has been equating the Republican Party to be conservative, while the Democratic Party has been seen as too liberal. The fact is that regardless of political affiliation or who wins the election, unfortunately we will still have abortions in America.
This time the trend is shifting to the left. Americans feel betrayed by the conservative Republican Party and I am sure a high percentage of people who voted for George W. Bush now regret ever voting for him. The main issue in here is not abortions but our wallets and how much money we have in order to support our families.
There is one thing for sure, the McCain-Palin camp has opted to get to the White House by playing “dirty politics” with their character assassination while Obama is concentrating on the issues that we are facing in America: our economic crisis, health care, social security, retirement, education.
At the end, when people get to the polls on November 4, 2008, they are not going to be thinking about Bill Ayers or about Obama’s middle name or his personal life, they will be voting for a change on the way this country has been running since we decided to elect George W. Bush. The United States need to focus on our domestic issues and stop the over-spending by some federal agencies.
For years, the average woman having an abortion has been classified as being an evangelical protestant or Catholic. Instead of blaming the president of the United States, our school system, and our state and local government, we should take a look first at our own families, our home.
A prime example is Sarah Palin. She is an extraordinary woman and the governor of Alaska trying to raise five (5) children, while running the State of Alaska. Because of her busy schedule, and I am sure not her fault, is having an unwed teenage daughter pregnant. Remember, Palin has been attending a Christian church since her youth. Are we to seat in judgment and blame Palin for her daughter’s pregnancy?
This Narco News report is intended not to shift any blame on anybody but ourselves. I am as guilty as any other Christian father because I have an unwed twenty-something year-old daughter who now has two children. She lives with the father of my beautiful grandchildren in a small apartment. They have promised me that they will eventually get married. All I can do for my grown up kids is to love them, have long talks with them about moral issues and being responsible and to pray and pray for them.
I have posted four independent and neutral links to the Johnstons Archives' website that deals with the issue of abortion on the states of Illinois, Arizona, Deleware and Alaska, the home states of Barack Obama, John McCain, Joe Biden and Sarah Palin.
