A team consisting of the Mexican Navy, Vallarta Adventures and the Institute of Ocean Technology rescued the nursing mother. Fortunately her baby was not entangled and both swam away free. Light Up: An aggressive program to replace and repair almost 23-thousand city lights was announced this week by Mayor Javier Bravo. The city will invest around 90-million pesos in this project. The new lights will be power saving models and will reduce the cost of lighting the city by 33 percent. Click HERE for full story.
A Royal Visit: This past week, one of the largest and most luxurious cruise ships in the world, Cunard Cruise Line's Queen Victoria, made a stop in Marina Vallarta. This voyage is part of a repositioning trip and the ship will spend the remainder of the season cruising down the Western coast of Mexico, visiting Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Touchdown!: The 43rd Super Bowl kicks off on Sunday, February 1st at 5 pm. Tampa Bay, Florida, plays host to this annual sports and festive party atmosphere. So even though you are in Mexico, football can be seen. The Bay of Banderas offers many options to enjoy this annual event, even if you are not a football fan. Woven Arts: The fourth annual textile exhibition will open on Wednesday, February fourth, at 6 pm. The theme for the show is corn. Participating artists from Mexico, the United States, and Canada will be there. The splendor of the old tapestry technique will arrive at the Naval Historic Museum of Puerto Vallarta. Mystic Remedies: The third International meeting on natural and alternative medicine started on January 30th and runs through February 8th in Lazaro Cardenas Park. There will be dance performances and experts in massage, and acupuncture along with the demonstration and sale of spiritual and natural products.
