Here it is nearly the middle of February 2009 and the further I go, the "behinder" I get! Here are a few of the clinics, programs and activities that are scheduled to take place around the Bay of Banderas in the upcoming weeks.

Men! Check Your PSA!

Men's Health Package - $3934 pesos
Complete blood count, glucose, creatinine, uric acid, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, TGO, TGP, GGT, sodium, potassium, febrile reactions, T4, PSA, Stool study, Urinalysis, Chest X-ray, Ultrasound of the prostate, Bone density study, abdominal ultrasound and electrocardiogram. Men under 40 years - $2899 pesos
Same as above but no PSA, Ultrasound of the prostate, Bone density study (not necessary for under 40 years.) By appointment only.
Both of these packages include a follow up appointment with an internist to go over all results.

Special price continues. Just do it - and get it over with. Really, it does not hurt at all!

Critical Blood Shortage in the Banderas Bay Area
The blood supply at the local Blood Bank is down to mere drops. We will be having a major blood drive on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Los Mangos Library. We hope that you will participate and "give the gift of life." I will be sending out donor requirements and detailed information within the next week. Perhaps you do not qualify to donate but you might have friends-family members that do. I am also looking for a few volunteers to donate cookies for this event. Please contact me!

Cooking Classes with Dolores
By now, most of you are aware that Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Some of you are probably looking forward to the day and have already made plans to sweep away your partner. Others of you will likely scramble something together on the evening of the 13th.
However you plan to spend the 14th, I'd like to offer several suggestions, 1) Prepare a unforgettable meal that you learned at the Essences of Cuisine Cooking School, or 2) Bring your partner to a class and let Dolores (Owner and Chef) do the cooking and you can both enjoy the evening.
This is a wonderful way to celebrate the month of love with the one you cherish. The classes feature the new "demonstration style" of instruction, which includes a welcome cocktail, appetizer, preparation instruction, a 4 course meal with dazzling place settings and wine service throughout. A complete professional recipe/instructions packet is included.
This month, Dolores' Essences of Cuisine Cooking Classes are scheduled to be held on February 20th and 26th, and will feature:
• Chilled Sparkling Cidra with freshly squeezed lime juice
• Shrimp with Basil-Mango Suace
• Roasted Pears with Blue Cheese and Argula
• Grilled Pork Loin with Guava Glaze and Orange Habanero Sauce
• Garlic Mashed Potatoes
• Red Strawberry Sauce over Short Cake.
Held at Calle Pilitas 204, Condo 2B, just off Olas Altas in Puerto Vallarta's Old Town, Dolores' cooking classes start promptly at 6:30 pm. Donation is $600 pesos per person.
