PV's La Paloma Bullring NOT For Sale

According to owner José Manuel Gómez Puerto Vallarta's La Paloma Bullring is NOT for sale. (PromoVision)
There was a strong rumor that the La Paloma Bullring in Puerto Vallarta was going to be sold to a company from the United States for a large sum of money. Vallarta Vive spoke to José Manuel Gómez, one of the owners of the bullring, and he was very surprised to hear this.

"Last year there was an offer, but we never reached an agreement and we kept the bullring. To date there haven't been any more offers. Certainly the crisis has reached the bullfights, in previous bullfights we would profit, but this last Wednesday we had a loss. Tourism has slowed down significantly. If anything, we might reduce the amount of bullfights, be we won't sell," says Gomez.

"Besides, the bullring is in a great location and over time it has become part of the city. When it was built 26 years ago, my father, Teofilo Gomez, acquired several properties around the bullring and today the price of the real estate has appreciated significantly."

Fortunately the sale of the property was only a rumor, because the La Paloma Bullring is the only safe arena in Puerto Vallarta for bullfights.

The Gomez family, José Manuel, José Roberto, their sister and their father Teofilo have become an institution in the Bullfighting medium for being the only bullring that does not stop operating even when the going gets tough. For 26 years they have mounted 30 bullfights per year. On the other hand, the cattle ranch that José Roberto manages maintains its prestige and is solicited more and more by members of the bullfighting industry.
