Reasons Behind Mexico's Null Vote: Survey

The results below are from a survey conducted at the Iberoamerican University using a sample group of 200 people with 27 questionnaires discredited. The results are harsh and I didn't want to present any analysis in regard to the answers or their possible grouping. The results give an idea for the reasons behind the Null Vote.

The questionnaires were based on arguments described by panelists in the forum "The Conquering Vote," organized by the Federal Electorate Institute (IFE). Themes of discontent were grouped together to produce the equivalent of an exit poll. Those surveyed were asked to mark all the relevant answers.

27 questionnaires were annulled due to repeated questions or crossed answers. We did not specifically ask, "What is the point of a null vote," but "What would provoke a null vote." We expressed that this was an anonymous survey and to please answer honestly. The total number of people who marked that answer precedes the responses.

(34) I do not know where they put my candidate. (98) I am not convinced by any of the political parties. (88) My vote doesn't count. (138) My opinion is not taken into consideration by any political party. (83) There is no way to be involved in a political party. (107) Political parties are mafias. (137) There is no dialog with political parties. (167) Nothing can be expected from the people elected. (101) The political parties tell us, "vote, shut up and obey." (63) The vote does not express "our" future. (159) The political parties take advantage of the people.

We asked to those surveyed to provide "reasons" that were not mentioned in the questionnaire. The answers written can more or less be grouped like this:

(89) We are fed up that they do whatever they want. (125) They are a bunch of snakes that don't do their jobs. (82) They have too many advantages that only benefit them. (128) They all abuse their positions. (63) I am sick of the internal drama of the parties. (149) They only tend to the personal interests of their buddies or their political party. (83) We are tired of the street vendors that have taken control of the streets. (125) Delegates never listen to us; they are in collusion with criminals. (85) How and to whom are building permits issued? (125) They only have 3 years to get rich. (88) The garbage is a business of the delegates. (107) From here, what job will they get next? (Trapeze affect). (104) We can't say or do anything.

As shown, when the public take the floor they are more direct and less "diplomatic" than the panelists. It is important to stop this looting and continued abuse. There were profane responses that reveal a grave tiredness of abuse and powerlessness.
