Riviera Nayarit - According to the first report from the federal Secretariat of Tourism in the National Projects Registry, Nayarit is the most attractive state for private investment, said the state Secretary of Tourism, Edwin Hernandez. Over 655 million dollars have been invested there this year.

"Thanks to the strong promotion and excellent management by Governor Ney Gonzalez Sanchez, investments make up the vast majority of projects initiated in 2008 and concluded in 2009," Hernandez said. "Some examples are the St. Regis Hotel, Hotel Dreams Villamagna and the Marina Riviera Nayarit. Also, there are many other projects that have been started this year and will continue into 2010, such as the Hotel Grand Luxxe and renovations being made to the Grand Mayan Hotels, Mayan Palace and The Sea Garden."

Condominiums with hotel services, or "condo hotels," which have been promoted by the government, have played an important part in generating investments in the Riviera, he said.

These investments are in line with the governments' State Development Plan because tourism translates into job creation, Hernandez said.
