River Road Gardens Celebrates One-Year Birthday Christina Ram - tucsonwaldorf.org December 08, 2009
Tucson, AZ - River Road Gardens, LLC hosted its first annual appreciation dinner on Saturday. Local, award-winning chef Ramiro Scavo from Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort prepared fresh, organic vegetables from the garden, and lamb cooked over an open flame at the Tucson Waldorf School, the evening's venue for 135 Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shareholders and members of the Waldorf Community. Attendees also enjoyed dancing and entertainment provided by local drum and dance ensemble, Batucaxe.
"We cannot begin to express our appreciation for those CSA members who have put their trust into this project," says Jon McNamara, founding partner of River Road Gardens, LLC. "The framework for our overwhelming success was established when the Tucson Waldorf School graciously allowed us to occupy a portion of their ten-acre school site."
The birthday party followed the 1st annual River Bend Farm and Craft Fair, co-hosted by River Road Gardens and the Tucson Waldorf School. Approximately 500 people stopped by to enjoy food, entertainment, children's crafts and traditional games, farm tours, hay rides and unique, hand-crafted Waldorf gifts, as well as gifts from local vendors.
