The November 28th Evening Under the Stars at Hacienda San Angel was overflowing with attendees, raising a lot of money for SPCA-PV. (photos by Sandra Carolina Briones)
Have you ever seen a pregnant belly dancer perform? Well, we did at the SPCA fundraiser at Hacienda San Angel. The pretty dancer is several months pregnant, joining Don and Rhonda's Katmandu, performing music from India. Don and Rhonda studied music in India.

Actually, I once wrote an article about expectant women who attend belly dancing classes... then can practice in their homes. It is muscle-building, aiding the birth process.

The SPCA party was overflowing with attendees, the auction brought in a lot of money to assist the care of animals, and a dinner of fillet mignon, with lovely vegetables, was accompanied by Mariachi music with the lighted main church in the background.

Private chef Seth Cloutman seems to the chef of the time right now. His fabulous food is at private dinners, parties, classes and fundraisers. He is presenting brunches at Villa Balboa on Saturday, December 5. Chef Seth makes a guest appearance at Debbi Egan's Banana Cantina, Amapas 147 at Pulpito, on Wednesday, December 9, to help raise money for the Becas Scholarship Program. Call Banana Cantina for reservations at (322) 222-2114.

Save the date of January 30 on your calendar for an extraordinary evening, Chef Seth says, at the stunning restaurant, Japanice. "Glamour on the Red Carpet ...for the Children" will be a casino night, with fabulous food by Japanice owner Miguel Padilla and Food by Seth. All proceeds will benefit Becas Vallarta, Nuestra Huerta and R.I.S.E. General admission will be $350 and $750 pesos for a private casino in the Sky Bar. Then there's the intimate wine cellar. Ask about that. Please call Jose Martinez at 222-9081, M-F, from 11 am-6 pm.

The Los Mangos Library celebrated its 13th Anniversary with a classical concert and the opening of Sally's Corner for children. At the concert, attendees were introduced to Andrea, a sophomore at The American School, who has a spectacular voice. She will have the lead at the school in "West Side Story." The Library has a large selection of books. It is a beautiful and relaxing place to read and listen to music.

The Wednesday Old Town Art Walks celebrate outstanding artists such as Bill White at Pacifico, Aldama 174, and Marta Gilbert at Galeria A., J.O. Dominguez 155.

Private chef Dolores Brittingham will have food demonstration-style instruction on December 10 and other dates you can ask her about. Call (322) 222-7017 or email y_brittingham(at)hotmail.com.

Author and poet Karen Blomain will read from her new poetry book, Hard Bargain, at the Cornelia Street Cafe in New York City at 6:00 pm, December 16. Go to KarenBlomain.com.

Dee's pumpkin pies are the absolute best at her coffee cafe on Rodolfo Gomez. Across the street are the "Chocolate Ladies," Charlotte and Carol. Several new chocolates are available.

Ernesto got dressed up for Thanksgiving at his restaurant, an institution in Vallarta. The holiday dinner was very good.

A lot of persons rave about Mama Rosa's food, both breakfast and dinner. The restaurant at Leona Vicario 297, is in the art gallery section. Owners Mateo and Sergio are darlings.

The French dinner of Seth, who worked in Paris, at Sybil Breitwieser's, included a rabbit pate and lamb. Sybil's home, filled with art, including her own, overlooks Banderas Bay. Her daughter, Patrice White, has returned from Hawaii for the high season here... and maybe a theater performance. What a life!

Wally Demary won one of Chef Seth's dinners at the SPCA event, A number of us at his table invited ourselves for dinner.

Pamela Darling has returned from a visit to Bali where she once lived. She might have some items you would like to purchase. Ask her, when you see her.

So many persons have asked about the Wise Wo-men programs, organized by Darla Fowler. Darla and her husband, Ernie, travel extensively, so she has retired her programs. Thank you, thoughtful Darla.
