Participating in the production is Alejandro Colunga, an artist and personality whose work in plastic arts embodies Mexico's artistic and cultural life, which also can be seen in the theater's in-house art gallery, Galería de Arte Colunga.
Manuel Diaz Preciado is the director and mastermind of Teatro Vallarta, with a capacity for 960 people. State-of-the-art technology is provided. Wheelchair access is available. Regular functions will be at 8:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, at 185 Uruguay, near the Ley supermarket.

Author Karen Blomain and her husband, writer and photographer Michael Downend, were traveling by bus from Guadalajara to Vallarta when they discovered that the bus had WiFi and decided to check their email. That's how Karen discovered that she had been offered a two-book contract to complete the trilogy begun by "A Trick of Light."
Many Vallarta residents who already have read the first book will be happy to know that next year they will be able to meet the same characters in "The Season of Lost Children," and 18 months later, catch up with the final installment in "From Oz." Publication dates will be announced later. You also can go to KarenBlomain.com.

A thank-you breakfast for friends was hosted by Robert and Dolores Brittingham at hot Mama Rosa restaurant, 297 Leona Vicario. Everyone seems to go there. Owner Mateo was his usual gracious self, even providing Sangria for breakfast, with the fabulous and extensive buffet. Look for an article soon about the popular restaurant and its popular owners.

"Celebration of Life!" was the theme for a party at Chickie Alter's. Nearly 200 persons celebrated her return from six and a half months of treatment for cancer in Los Angeles, which is now in remission. Her husband, Irwin, has Alzheimer's.
Chickie's and Irwin's new home was nearly finished being built when she remained in Los Angeles for treatment. "My friends in Puerto Vallarta welcomed my return by staging our home with more than 60 poinsettia plants and all types of holiday decorations," Chickie points out. Her recent party "was given in appreciation to our wonderful friends in Puerto Vallarta." Chickie is open... and obviously very thoughtful.
You will hear more about La Cigale, 398 Calle Hidalgo, (322-223-2247), a new and authentic French bistro, from anyone who dines there. The food and the atmosphere are excellent. Where else would one go to dinner with a spy?
We celebrated Ruth Doll's 86th birthday and heard tales of intrigue from Elaine Babcock, both Washington, D.C. area friends. Actually, Elaine can't talk much about it, and this journalist probably has as many or more tales of intrigue. Elaine was with the CIA before she moved on to the U.S. Defense Department. Look for an article about this bistro in the future.
Renewal of my visa this year was lightening rapid.
Thank you to friends and acquaintances who were so thoughtful while I underwent some medical treatment, which included confinement at home for several days. Barbara Yates accompanied me to a Guadalajara medical facility.
Kathleen Hennen did invaluable research. Other friends brought food, and kept in touch. I am fine. A special thank you to doctors Lilian Davalos Pita, Antonio Matilla Torres, Leslie Swindle, and nuclear doctor Carlos Aguilar Elias, Guadalajara. We are so fortunate here to have some outstanding physicians.
And we had to eat in Guadalajara, of course. The Italian restaurant, Pomodoro, was fabulous. For more information, go to Pomodoro.com.mx.
