America is a Massive, Monumental Failure

Question: What’s the difference between America and a Cub Scout pack?

Answer: Cub Scouts have adult leadership.

Yeah, I know. Old joke. But America is become an old, sad joke delivered by out-of-touch politicians/comedians before a disinterested, unaware audience.

From a White House occupied by a clueless, over-his-head amateur to a Congress led by lackluster, overtly-partisan leaders, the giant machine called America has ground to a halt.

Our government is a cesspool of partisan political posturing where talking points replace facts, expedience replaces leadership and political allegiance supplants true love of country.

Democrats and their style-over-substance President, Barack Obama, can’t admit failure because they are too busy blaming Republicans for their mistakes. Republicans see their role as all opposition all the time and can’t put the interests of the nation above their own petty agendas.

Both parties depend on their gullible legions of followers to accept their propaganda as fact, knowing full well that the average American voter is either too lazy or too stupid to look beyond the partisan spin.

So the party faithful, depending on their political leanings, depend on partisan blather from Keith Olbermann on the left or Glenn Beck on the right and lack either the intellectual capacity or curiosity to seek out the truth hiding behind all the biased reporting masquerading as news.

Even established news shows like “Meet the Press” or “Face the Nation” have become nothing more than propaganda platforms where carefully-screened party representatives ignore questions and deliver prepared talking points over and over again.

The so-called Tea Party movement remains a joke unto itself, adopting a vapid, failed governor of Alaska as its national spokeswoman and declaring anger as its mission.

Instead of looking for effective ways to impact the system, too many Tea Party minions would rather dress up as Uncle Sam and wave racist signs at carefully-staged gatherings designed to look good on TV while accomplishing little else.

On Internet sites, bulletin boards and forums, political discussion has degenerated into invective-filled shout fests.

All of this does nothing to help the largest number of Americans in history who remain out of work and have little hope of finding a good job.

It does nothing to resolve an out-of-control war in Afghanistan that has become another Vietnam.

And it does nothing to scale back the escalating loss of liberty and rights that have increased under a new President who promised to fix the problem.

The system has failed.

And so has the grand experiment called America.
