High season is almost upon us and we are already feeling renewed energy in our beloved Vallarta as the city comes back to life with welcome visitors and winter guests. We will soon be in the full whirl of the city's endless activities!
The rains have let up and the days are starting to cool down to bring us the perfect climate we know and love here in our tropical paradise. Rivera Cuale is looking forward to seeing you, so drop us a line to let us know when you'll be in town.
While our Northern neighbors celebrate Halloween, Mexico will have its Dνa de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations. There will be colorful adornments and lively reunions at family burial plots, which are always spruced up for the occasion.

Rivera Cuale - An Ecosystem: Part 1
Every time I arrive at Rivera Cuale, I marvel at the glory of the surrounding nature, pristine and pure. My eyes feast on all the colors of the plants and my ears rejoice in the calls of the many birds and the river rushing by.
Recently, it was like I suddenly woke up and saw the bigger picture, that Rivera Cuale is not only home to various plants, birds, fish, insects and animals, but so much more. Rivera Cuale is an ecosystem, a community of living organisms and nonliving elements all in delicate balance, linked together through nutrient cycle and energy flow.
All of the elements and organisms of this precious ecosystem, including people, are interdependent on one another to support each other and render life possible. The air, water, soil and sunlight nourish the plants, the plants produce the oxygen in the air that we breathe, and through photosynthesis, food.
This food is the nourishment for our ecosystem's wildlife and insects, which in turn are the food of other organisms, and thus goes the food web. When we exhale, we emit carbon dioxide, which the plants absorb and use in the photosynthesis process.
In this article, I will tell you a little about some of the animal life we find in the Rivera Cuale ecosystem. In future articles, I will take you on a tour of our many varied plant species.

PEACE Beach Clean-ups
PEACE continues their weekly beach clean-ups, focusing on the mouth of the Cuale River to prevent as much garbage as possible from flowing into the Bay of Banderas. To help with this effort, please contact Jennifer at jennifermariepeters(at)gmail.com. Upcoming cleanups are October 16th, 24th and 30th.
Los Mangos Library Planting
The new Puerto Vallarta Garden Club in coordination with Los Mangos Library will host a planting at the Library on Saturday, October 16th at 11 am. Help plant their complimentary bougainvilleas in memory of a loved one or just for fun! All volunteers, new members and donations are welcome. Read more about the event here.
Rivera Cuale Concert for PEACE
On Sunday, November 21st, Rivera Cuale will host a riverfront fundraiser concert for PEACE. The evening will include a reception, concert by ballad singer Sergio Carrillo from Guadalajara, and refreshments. Tickets will be $500 pesos or $40 USD.
