July 12th Vallarta News Brief & Upcoming Events

July 12, 2013

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around Banderas Bay, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. So we've put together a brief overview of several of this week's headlines from local Spanish language newspapers, a few breaking Mexico news stories, and a couple of upcoming events you won't want to miss.

Ice Cream Fair at Four Seasons Punta Mita

Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is celebrating the arrival of summer with the coolest summer temptation: Ice Cream! Their "Summer of Ice Cream Love" promotion gives you the opportunity to enjoy unique taste sensations that promise cool and delicious moments of pleasure. As part of their Ice Cream Summer program, executive Chef Philippe Piel and his team have planned an interactive ice cream fair where you'll be able to taste as much ice cream as you want for just $9 USD per person. This refreshing experience is scheduled to take place from 4-5 pm on Sunday, July 21st at the resort's infinity-edge Nuna Pool. For more information, click HERE. for reservations dial 329.291.6000.

Elimination of Visas between Mexico and Peru Promotes Tourism

The decision by Pacific Alliance countries to eliminate visas has yielded results as the number of Peruvians visiting Mexico has increased by 60% over the last three to four months. Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Jose Luis Silva, said the elimination of visas between Mexico and Peru has promoted tourism and business. On November 9, 2012, Mexico decided to eliminate visa requirements for Peruvian citizens entering the country as visitors under an agreement signed by Pacific Alliance member nations (Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile). Silva said that the agreement seeks to guarantee the free movement of goods, capital, services, and people.

México Desconocido Features Vallarta Botanical Gardens

The Vallarta Botanical Gardens are featured in the July issue of México Desconocido magazine, an excellent national Spanish language periodical with an international appeal to savvy travelers looking for destinations off the beaten path. Mexico Desconocido is available for purchase at most local newsstands. For both travelers and those living right here in the Banderas Bay region who still haven't been to the Vallarta Botanical Gardens, now is an excellent time to visit. The Garden's privileged location and cool afternoon breezes are always a refreshing delight, and the Summer rainy season is when our local forests are bursting back to life with vibrant green leaves and an incredible variety of flowers and fruit. Entry to the Vallarta Botanical Gardens is priced at only $60 pesos per person. Summer activities for the family, including blackberry picking and an interactive gemstone and mineral experience, are also available for an additional modest fee.

Puerto Vallarta #2 on Hotwire's Summer 'Where To Go Now & How' List

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is among the five destinations that offer the best overall experience and value on Hotwire.com's summer 2013 Where To Go Now & How Guide. To form the list, Hotwire analyzes local trends like weather and tourist traffic, as well as entertainment options, cultural experiences and the available deals in each locale. Puerto Vallarta experiences its peak season during the winter, when travelers want to escape cold weather, and again during spring break. Though prices are typically lower during the summer, hoteliers are dropping prices even lower this year to try and attract visitors who may be considering other beach vacation destinations like Hawaii and the Caribbean. In Puerto Vallarta, vacationers can drink, dine, shop and dance on the beach or enjoy one of the many tour options, such as exploring underwater marvels on a snorkel or scuba tour, ziplining through lush canopies, or sampling the city's surprisingly international culinary scene. This Summer hotel prices are down 25 percent when compared to last summer, and average hotel prices on Hotwire are a low $65 a night. Learn more at Hotwire.com.
