PuRR Project Seeks Volunteer Veterinarian
PuRR Project, a no-kill feline shelter about 40 minutes north of Vallarta, is looking for a vet tech to assist our shelter veterinarian two to three hours twice a week. Duties include administering FIV/leukemia tests, vaccinating and deworming of new intakes plus diagnosing and treating any infections or wounds in the yard population. If you're a retired vet or vet tech, or have some training as a vet, and speak some Spanish, we need you! This is a non-paid position, but the rewards are many, including working with a dedicated group of people with a passion for making a significant difference in the lives of our rescued cats. If you qualify or would like more information, please email Marilyn Khan at exkhan(at)usfamily.net

Corazón de Niña Fundraiser Breakfast at The River Café
On Saturday, August 9 at 10 am, the River Cafe will host a fundraiser breakfast to benefit the Corazón de Niña Girls' Shelter in Puerto Vallarta. Corazón de Niña is a local non-profit children’s shelter dedicated to providing housing, education, food, medical care, and love to young girls who have been removed from shockingly abusive situations. Rather than housing the girls in an institutional setting, Corazón de Niña provides a real home with house parents. Counseling, education and long-term support are priorities of the home. It is the only home for girls over the age of 12 in Puerto Vallarta. A donation of $200 pesos is suggested for the fundraiser breakfast. Advanced tickets may be purchased at The River Cafe, at Carol's Boutique on Basilio Badillo on the south side of Vallarta, or by calling Corazón de Nina at (322) 224-9209. Tickets will be available at the door for $225 pesos.
