Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - There's always so much going on in Puerto Vallarta and around the Republic, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. Vidanta Resort Nuevo Vallarta Featured on 'Bachelor in Paradise'

Vidanta Resort Nuevo Vallarta will be featured in an upcoming episode of ABC's summer reality series Bachelor in Paradise. The episode includes a visit to the award-winning Vidanta beachfront resort in Vallarta-Nayarit, as one lucky couple visits Santuario – a breathtaking palapa structure that offers nightly entertainment at the heart of the resort – for a romantic dinner complete with a 101-piece Mariachi band. The episode will air Sunday, August 9th, 2015, at 8/7c on ABC. "Bachelor in Paradise is such an established entertainment franchise and we wanted to meet their need for a Mexican resort paradise," said Benny Michaud, Director of Hotel Operations for Grupo Vidanta. "We look forward to the series shining a spotlight on how true beauty and lasting happiness can be discovered in Mexico." Watch the romantic television event of the summer, filmed right here in the Banderas Bay area, on Sundays and Mondays (7 pm, CT) on ABC.

Cocaine Seizures by Mexico's Army Jump 340%

The amount of cocaine seized by Mexico's army skyrocketed during the first half of 2015, with almost 2,800 kilos of cocaine confiscated by Mexico's army during the first six months of the year - an increase of 340% over the amount seized during the same period last year. Sedena's current statistics show that a total of 2,797 kilos of cocaine was confiscated between January and June 2015. This figure is equivalent to 40 percent of the total amount of cocaine seized since President Enrique Peña Nieto took office in December 2012. These seizures have been conducted as a part of the government's anti-drug trafficking campaign, in which Mexico's army and other federal security forces have participated. Some analysts have estimated that the price of a kilo of cocaine at the US-Mexico border fluctuates between $12,000 and $15,000, which means the 2015 seizures represent a loss of up to $40 million for the cartels. There are no up-to-date statistics for the amount of cocaine seized by the Federal Police or the Attorney General's Office (PGR) so far in 2015. Nevertheless, the army typically accounts for between 70 and 80 percent of all drugs seized by Mexican authorities. Read more at insightcrime.org.

Purr Project in Search of an Airline Angel

Sweet Charlie needs an airline angel to go with him on a flight from Puerto Vallarta to Vancouver. This Purr Project rescue kitty has a beautiful home waiting on Vancouver Island, but the person who was going to take him there has fallen ill. Charlie's been patiently waiting at the Purr shelter for two months. He will be met at the Vancouver airport and airline pet fees will be paid. If you can you help, please email Marilyn Khan at exkhan(at)usfamily.net. Purr Project is a Non-Profit shelter in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal to adopt them out to loving homes. All of our residents have been sterilized, vaccinated and are disease free. We accomplish this through our own efforts as well as collaboratively with other animal welfare organizations. Both monetary donations as well as donations of dry cat food are most welcome – and much appreciated. Donations 501(c)(3) tax-deductible in the US. For more information, visit PurrProject.com or send an email to info(at)purrproject.com.
