As president of the Academy of Plastic Surgery and on the faculty of the University of Guadalajara (clinical professor) for the past 28 years, he brings years and years of surgical experience to his practice.
Dr. Rivera has two private practices. One in Guadalajara where he is associated with Hospital Angeles del Carmen and Hospital San Javier Guadalajara and as well, he spends three days a week in his Puerto Vallarta office to consult and perform surgery in the Banderas Bay area.
One of the biggest pluses of Dr. Rivera is that he spends a vast amount of time with each patient consultation, going over risks, studying the area requested for surgery. Should the patient have expectations beyond what he feels are realistic, he is very honest in his assessment and recommendations. (In English!)
In addition, he has a huge heart. He participates in the local Cleft Palate program (no charge) and does an enormous amount of charity work especially focusing on poor children who have suffered severe burns.
