Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - The Riviera Nayarit Touristic Half Marathon held last Saturday November 17th was golden - and not only for the crowns of Carlos Alfredo Echeverría and Dinora Peña, winners of the 21k race.
Also golden was the beauty of the route which had been modified to maintain its aesthetics and to also meet certifications by the Mexican Athletics Federation and by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
With nearly 700 runners registered for the competition - as many as 200 more than last year - and the appearance of international multimedalist Dionicio Ceron, who trained a group of competitive athletes from Guadalajara, the Fourth Edition of this marathon had all the ingredients for success.
"Is such a beautiful route, such a gorgeous place that I almost can´t believe I'm still in Mexico. This place is such a privilege for all of the contestants," said Dionicio Ceron, who was visiting Riviera Nayarit during the competition for the second time.
"High endurance sports are a key niche for attracting tourism in Riviera Nayarit," said Marc Murphy, General Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB (Conventions and Visitors Bureau.) "They attract people who are strongly focused on achieving goals, and who also have purchasing power and a well developed environmental culture. These events provide the ideal atmosphere to promote our destination and to generate economic benefits for all."
The CVB of Riviera Nayarit is a public non-profit association dedicated to promoting tourism on the coast of Nayarit, from its southern border with Jalisco in Nuevo Vallarta, to Novillero, its Northern border with Sinaloa, by integrating the promotion of historic and cultural sites.
