The Riviera Nayarit Leads the Way in Clean Beaches

July 3, 2014

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Surrounded by four oceans and with around 450 beaches, the Mexican coastline offers tourists options for relaxing, adventure, luxury and a respectful contact with nature. All of this for the purpose of allowing you to have an unforgettable experience amidst sun, sand, and sea.

Mexico offers the assurance of having beaches certified according to the standards of the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) which, as a result of meeting environmental, health, safety and quality of services criteria, ensures the enjoyment and peace of mind of visitors to these paradisiacal shores.

Jalisco, Baja California Sur, Guerrero, Quintana Roo, Nayarit, Tamaulipas and Oaxaca are the states that have this distinction. But the state of Nayarit has the largest number of beaches with quality certification in all of Mexico.

During the 10th National Clean Beaches Conference held in Puerto Vallarta from June 25 to 27, 2014, four new beaches were certified, giving the Riviera Nayarit the lead in clean beach destinations within Mexico. Out of a total of 31 certified clean beaches in seven Mexican states, 10 of them are in the Riviera Nayarit.

The four new beaches are in Punta Mita, Banderas Bay, Compostela and San Blas. The other six beaches that boast this quality certification are Bucerias Beach, Los Muertos Beach in Sayulita, Chacala, and the Nuevo Vallarta Norte, Nuevo Vallarta Sur, and Nuevo Vallarta II beaches.

Quintano Roo, where Cancun is located, is in second place with 5 certified clean beaches.

The state of Jalisco boasts two SEMARNAT certified beaches: Los Camarones Beach and Garza Blanca Beach - both in Puerto Vallarta - and PV's Palmares Beach was recently awarded Blue Flag certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education's (FEE) international jury of environmentalists.

Visit the beaches that have received this distinction, and you'll have a marvelous time under the best conditions for your relaxation and recreation.
