Ahead of the summer, AT&T Monday announced new roaming benefits for customers who want to use their phones on their home network while they're in Canada or Mexico. These are the two countries that AT&T customers travel to the most, so it makes sense for the company to provide more value to them in Canada and Mexico.
Starting May 20th, customers can get AT&T's Mexico roaming feature for free when they switch to its new Mobile Share Value 15GB and higher plans. Customers on this plan get unlimited talk and text as well as the use of their data plan in and between Mexico and the United States.
Customers who are already on or those who opt for the AT&T Unlimited Plan will not have to pay any roaming charges in both Mexico and Canada. They can use all of the above in and between the United States for no additional roaming charge, the carrier confirmed.
"Around 20% of our postpaid base travels to Mexico or Canada once per year. This is a fantastic benefit for customers that will only get better. We're aiming to cover 100 million people in Mexico with 4G LTE by the end of 2018," said David Christopher, chief marketing officer at AT&T.
