Tales of Retirement in Paradise - Revisited
email this pageprint this pageemail usPolly G. Vicars

With a modicum of modesty, a soupcon of pride, and a heap of hutzpa, I am resurrecting my first book, "Tales of Retirement in Paradise - Life in Puerto Vallara Mexico," for the fans and family who continue to urge me to reprint the book, which sold out in its first year.

In conversations with editors of two popular English language dailies, we decided that it would be fun to publish a serialized and updated version - one in the print publication Vallarta Today, and one online here at BanderasNews.com.

So here's Tales of Retirement in Paradise, originally written in August 1995 (with updates in italics).

• Tales of Retirement in Paradise - Introduction
• Chapter 1: Kentuckians in the Tropics?
• Chapter 2: But What Do You Do All Day?
• Chapter 3: Husband - To Whom this Book is Dedicated
• Chapter 4: Meet My Maestro Melchor!
• Chapter 5: Hit The Road
• Chapter 6: An Adventure in Paradise
• Chapter 7: Is There a Doctor in the House?
• Chapter 8: They'll Make You a Star
• Chapter 9: Juans and Juanitas - Mιxico's Best Hope
• Chapter 10: Dreams Do Come True

• Chapter 14: Street Walking in Vallarta
• Chapter 15: It's The People, Stupid!
• Chapter 16: Something For Everyone
• Chapter 17: Superstition is Bad Luck
• Chapter 18: Raise the Blue Flag
• Chapter 19: Nostalgia Ain't What it Used to Be
• Chapter 20: Harry Robinson, One of the Old-Timers
• Chapter 21 - Cruising the Coast of Happiness

Polly G. Vicars and her husband of 57 years, Hubert (a.k.a. "Husband") retired to Puerto Vallarta in 1988 and soon became active members of several charitable organizations. Polly is the author of "Tales of Retirement in Paradise: Life in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico" [a sell-out!] and "More Tales of Retirement in Puerto Vallarta and Around the World." Proceeds from the sale of her books go to the America-Mexico Foundation, a scholarship foundation that is their passion.
