Planet Earth Awards 2008
Travel writing that helps to sustain or enhance the unique and valuable character of a place — its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and/or the well-being of its residents.
• Best Travel Book for Planet Earth
• Best Travel Article/Essay for Planet Earth
All travel writers are encouraged to submit travel articles, essays and books to the San Francisco Bay Area Travel Writers Planet Earth Awards. For contest rules and complete information, click HERE. (PDF) Prominent editors, journalists and experts will judge; and, awards results will be publicized nationally and internationally.
Cash prizes: $200 Gold, $100 Silver, $50 Bronze, plus awards certificates.
Publication Dates: works must have been published between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006.
Deadline: Entries must be postmarked no later than August 31, 2007. Entry Fees: $15 per individual entry for BATW members; $30 per individual entry for non-members.
Awards: Winners will be notified and news of results will be released in January, 2008.
