Puerto Vallarta - As we have said many times over the past few months, never, in our wildest dreams, did we imagine the outpouring of support for the Food Drive that was created to assist those desperately in need after the fall out of the flu, slow economy in the Banderas Bay area - you name it - causing 1000's of locals to be layed off from their jobs.
Since we started the food drive back in May, many people here in Puerto Vallarta have donated tons of beans, rice, lentils, soup pasta and soup cubes and/or assisted in the "packaging parties" at the PVRPV office where, in an extremely short period of time, the individual food packages are put together to be distributed by the Jalisco DIF's (Social Services/Child Protective Services) various programs.
It is with a huge amount of pleasure and pride to announce that we have reached our goal of collecting enough food to support the DIF's Summer Food Distribution through September. The last packaging party will be held at the PVRPV office on September 4th at 6 pm sharp.
We want to take this time to thank everyone for all your donations and time for this wonderful cause over the last couple of months. We hope you will be able to join us and help out one last time. We are also happy to announce that Los Bambinos will be volunteering their time to entertain us during the party.
Don't forget to attend the BINGO for Beans and Babies games held every Thursday through the end of September at "Bite Me!" Funds from these events go directly to Pasitos de Luz. It's always a fun evening with many surprises... all for a wonderful cause!
