| | The 2010 Banderas Bay Regatta will start on Tuesday, March 16th and run through Saturday, March 20th. | |
A record 50 boats have signed up for the 2010 version of the Banderas Bay Regatta. The Regatta, now in its 18th year, is unique in that it is designed specifically for the cruising sailor who is carrying extra sails, spare parts, a solar cell panel or two, and lots of provisions.
This year's Regatta will start on Tuesday March 16 and run through Saturday March 20. The welcome reception on Tuesday afternoon will feature the dancers from Vallarta Adventures "Rhythms of the Night" show.
On Wednesday afternoon, the 17, the Vallarta Yacht Club will sponsor a St. Patrick's Day decorated dinghy parade and as well as their annual St. Patrick's Day party. Competitive racing starts on Thursday and concludes on Saturday.
Thursday night the Yacht Club will feature the rollicking 70's and 80's folk / rock music of the TallBoys Band. This group hails from the Mexican village of Ajijic, and are a real treat to see and hear. On Friday night local favorites Achim and Alejandra perform at the Vallarta Yacht Club.
Saturday evening the Awards Banquet and Beach Party will be held at the Paradise Village Resort and Spa and entertainment will be provided by the ever popular music group from La Cruz, Philo and the Mexican Shuffle Band.
Although the Welcome Party and the Awards Dinner and Beach Party are not open to the general public, visitors are welcome to join in on the nightly festivities at the Vallarta Yacht Club, which is located near the Paradise Plaza Shopping Center in Nuevo Vallarta.  18th Annual Banderas Bay Regatta Now in the History Books

The 3rd and final race of the 2010 Banderas Ray Regatta was run Saturday. Boats raced a moderately long course and were blessed with some pretty brisk winds late in the afternoon. This led to some pretty spectacular spinnaker runs, treating those out on the bay watching the race, with a colorful visual treat.

After dancing the night away to the fantastic music of the TallBoys Band at the Vallarta Yacht Club, skippers and crew were up bright and early this morning to ready their boats for the second day of racing in the 2010 Banderas Bay Regatta.

What started out as a somewhat gray and dismal day turned to perfection for the 1st day of competition of the 2010 Banderas Bay Regatta.
18th Annual Banderas Bay Regatta Off to a Rousing Start

On March 16th over 400 racers, regatta committee volunteers, and invited guests were treated to music by local group Kiacalli and then to a dance troupe from the Rhythms of the Night show at a Welcome Reception that officially opened the 2010 Banderas Bay Regatta.
