There, President Calderón declared that “Health coverage in Mexico has been expanded in recent years until to include over 90 million Mexicans through IMSS, ISSSTE and the Popular Insurance Scheme.”

In order to transfer patients from General Hospital No. 1, it was decided that the best technical alternative includes the adaptation of the Social Security Center, located 4 km away from the administrative medical center, where temporary medical services will be provided while the new General Hospital 250 will be built in Tres Marías in the municipality of Charo.

These are some of the actions carried out for the transfer:

• Relocation of delegation’s administrative office services to Biomedical Research Center (BRC).

• The transfer of four mobile surgeries and a mobile unit for diagnosis for authorized.

• The services to be temporarily outsourced, such as laundry and auxiliary diagnosis services were determined.

• It was agreed to reduce hospital occupation (10%) through management agreements with the Jalisco, Western Mexico, Guerrero and Guanajuato Delegations.

• On July 9 2010, the Gynecological-Pediatric areas were completed and began operating and the children on the 8th floor of General Hospital No. 1 were transferred to the new installations.

• On 18 September 2010, patients were transferred from General Hospital-1 to the Installations in the Provisional Hospital.

• Work on the adaptation of the Emergency Rooms, Operating theaters, Intensive Therapy, Imaging and General Service areas continues and is scheduled for completion by the end of this month.
