(Presidencia de la República) | | Monterrey, Nuevo León - During the inauguration of the General Hospital in Zone No. 67 in Apodaca, Nuevo León, President Felipe Calderón stated that health should be available to everyone. It should not be a privilege for those that can pay for a doctor, hospital or medicines but a right that must be exercised in practice.
"Today, in Nuevo León, I have come to prove Federal Government's full support for the people of Nuevo León. Its support for this land and these people, who are hardworking, god-fearing, strong and perseverant,” he said.
Accompanied by Governor Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz, the President said that this administration’s commitment to the government of Nuevo León is based on deeds rather than words. This is borne about by the fact that in the area of health services, in this state alone, 80 clinics and hospitals have been built or remodeled.
"And this gives me great pleasure, because this hospital began to be built during my administration and the fear of many Mexicans that the first couple of stones will be laid but never the last is a syndrome that worries a lot of people. I once inaugurated an ISSSTE hospital in Morelos that took 25 years to be built,” he said.
The President reported that nearly 800 million pesos were invested in this General Hospital, which will benefit nearly 600,000 persons. It has 250 beds and will offer diagnoses and treatment for 21 specialties and employ 1,177 Social Security workers. President Calderón, accompanied by IMSS director Daniel Karam Toumeh also inaugurated Family Medical Unit 10, via satellite. This Clinic, located, in the Municipality of Guadalupe, cost 170 million pesos and will serve 63,000 persons.
He invited the inhabitants of these municipalities to use the preventive services to avoid cardiovascular illnesses, diabetes and obesity. |
