Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Though many of our "snowbirds" have headed north for the summer months, we continue to stay busy and are looking forward to the summer season! Rest assured that HealthCare Resources is here for all of your healthcare needs, regardless of the time of year. It is also a time to relax just a little, move a bit slower as the heat begins to rise, and perhaps do some of the things we just don't have time to do during the busy winter months.

As in the past few summers, I would like to hear from you if you are here all summer and if you’d like to receive little blurbs about various "outings" like going to the movies, sharing books, breakfasts or lunches, some painting together at Fireworks; whatever we can think up! I will be making a Facebook page for these items but if you are not a Facebook person, send me your email address and name and I’ll add you to the list! You can find me on Facebook.

We have a full month of clinics coming up! And – a couple of new ones! The Men’s Urology Clinic and the Cardiology Clinic, which we are excited about doing! If you are interested in participating in any of the clinics, please send me an email with the name(s) of the clinics, your name and phone number and as well, any questions. These clinics are booked only through HealthCare Resources. They are all screening clinics only – no procedures are performed. They are held in various locations throughout Vallarta.

I would appreciate any ideas for article topics. I was not able to write many articles these past few months, and I am determined to get caught up. So think about it and send on your thoughts!

It is vitally important to understand that there is no such thing as "free medical care" here. If you have no insurance/medical coverage, please let me know and we can attempt to find a policy/solution for you. I am not an insurance salesperson, but I do have several contacts for both international policies and Mexican (private) policies. No promises or guarantees that we will find one for you – but we will sure give it a try!

May 16 - Cardiac Clinic – NEW!
$550 pesos (PLUS members pay $500 pesos) Includes: EKG, Blood Pressure Check, Consult/Interview with a cardiologist and their recommendations. (We recommend prior to the appointment, you have a Cholesterol Profile. We are offering a very discounted price for this at $322 pesos.)

May 18 - Vascular Clinic
$400 pesos (PLUS members pay $350 pesos) Includes: Evaluation by a vascular specialist, checking your legs/pulses/carotids – see how your blood is flowing! You will receive a complete report with any recommendations.

May 22 - Ear Clinic
$375 pesos (PLUS members pay $325 pesos) Includes: Complete evaluation by an ENT of your ears and a cleaning (if needed) – you’d be amazed at the "gunk" that builds up in our ears here due to the humidity. Note: This is not a hearing test!

May 23 - Mammogram Clinic
$920 pesos (PLUS members pay $820 pesos) Includes: Digital mammogram, ultrasound (if necessary), manual exam, review of mammogram. Please ladies! This is important!

May 24 - Skin Clinic
$275 pesos (PLUS members pay $225 pesos) Includes: Review of your skin, from scalp to toes by an oncologist. Get those funny spots checked.

May 25 - Foot Clinic
$300 pesos (PLUS members pay $250 pesos) Includes: Review of your feet/toes, pulses, balance and recommendations by a podiatrist. Our feet take a beating here, so take care of your tootsies!

May 25 - Men’s Urology Clinic (New!)
$700 pesos (PLUS members pay $650 pesos) Includes: Consult/Interview, ultrasound of kidneys, bladder and prostate, measurement of residual urine. (We recommend prior to your appointment a PSA and Urinalysis. We are offering a very discounted price of $470 pesos for these.)

May 29 - Women’s Clinic
$775 pesos (PLUS members pay $690 pesos) Includes: Consult/Interview, pap smear, pelvic exam, colposcopy. Wonderful female GYN.
